Apple plans to shrink the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Current leaks say the cutout will drop by about 35 percent, which gives the screen a cleaner look. Apple also aims to move Face ID parts under the display, which helps reduce the size of the visible cutout.
According to yeux1122âs blog, new part leaks show the Dynamic Island will drop from 20.76mm to 13.49mm. That change lifts the screen-to-body ratio on both Pro models and pushes Apple closer to a full-screen front design.
The new size
The new measurements show a clear visual shift. You will see more screen and less black space at the top.
- Old width: 20.76mm
- New width: 13.49mm
- Total reduction: about 35 percent
- Applies to both iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
Apple still plans to keep the pill shape instead of switching to a single punch hole. That choice keeps the Face ID system intact and avoids copying Android designs.
Apple can shrink it now
Apple plans to use LTPO+ OLED panels on the iPhone 18 Pro models. These panels allow Face ID sensors to sit under the screen without hurting performance. That change lets Apple hide more of the TrueDepth system while keeping accurate face scans.
Leaks also suggest Apple already tested this tech on an iPhone Fold prototype with an in-screen camera. That points to the company feeling confident about the hardware.
Another Leaker confirms the numbers

Ice Universe posted the same figures on X and shared a mockup of the smaller cutout.
“The Dynamic Island cutout width on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max has been reduced from 20.76 mm to 13.49 mm, representing a reduction of approximately 35%.”
The leaker also said the new width will sit around 13.5mm on both models.
A smaller Dynamic Island gives Apple a more modern front design without dropping Face ID. It also sets up the iPhone 18 Pro as the closest Apple has come to a true full-screen phone.
Apple plans to launch the iPhone 18 Pro lineup in September. If these leaks hold, you will see a major visual update the moment you turn the screen on.
