Apple’s March 4 media event may bring more than hardware updates, as fresh speculation suggests the company could preview immersive Formula 1 viewing on Apple Vision Pro, especially with the 2026 F1 season starting just days later on March 8 in Australia, which makes the timing hard to ignore.
Apple has already expanded its immersive video strategy over the past year, first launching Apple Immersive Video in 2024 with a scripted short film and later rolling out immersive sports coverage for selected Los Angeles Lakers games, showing that the company is serious about live immersive experiences on Vision Pro.
Daring Fireball’s John Gruber raised the possibility that Apple could extend this immersive push to Formula 1 during the upcoming event, pointing out the close timing between the March 4 gathering and the new F1 season.
“If they have something planned for streaming F1 races live on Vision Pro, with some level of immersion, March 4 would be a pretty good date to demo that experience to the media.”
Gruber made clear that this idea came from a reader and not from insider information, and he openly described it as speculation rather than a leak.
“Could just be a total coincidence that the Formula 1 season is starting the weekend after this event.”
Even so, Apple’s position as the exclusive U.S. broadcast partner for Formula 1 adds weight to the discussion, especially since the company previously said it would share more details about production plans and “new ways to enjoy F1 content” across its products in the coming months, which aligns closely with the March timeline.
The March 4 event, branded as the “Apple Experience,” will take place in New York, London, and Shanghai at 9:00 a.m. ET, and while Apple is widely expected to introduce new devices such as updated MacBook Pro models, refreshed iPads, and possibly a new iPhone 17e, a live immersive F1 demo would give Vision Pro a strong showcase tied directly to a major global sport.
At this stage, nothing is confirmed, but the combination of Apple’s exclusive F1 rights, its recent immersive sports experiments, and the season’s March 8 kickoff keeps the focus firmly on what the company might reveal.
