Apple TV sets world record with a large-scale drone show to promote its sci-fi series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, turning the Los Angeles skyline into a live monster showcase just days before the new season premieres.
The streamer worked with Legendary to stage a nighttime event that featured Godzilla, Kong, and other towering creatures formed entirely by drones rising high above the city, creating a coordinated light display that drew crowds and quickly spread across social media.

According to reports, the show used 3,000 drones that climbed roughly 500 feet into the air, setting a new world record in the process. The scale alone set this stunt apart from recent streaming promotions and signaled how serious Apple TV is about backing the series.
A record-breaking spectacle in the sky
The display recreated giant monsters in motion, with Godzilla and Kong dominating the skyline in bright detail while fans watched from the ground. Cast members, including Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell, attended the event and added star power to the night.
This push follows Apple’s earlier marketing stunt for Severance season 2, when a Lumon workstation appeared inside Grand Central Terminal in New York City, and actors like Adam Scott and Britt Lower showed up in character. However, this drone show raised the bar by literally lifting the promotion into the sky.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 premieres Friday, February 27, with one episode, and Apple TV will release new episodes weekly through May 1.
By setting a world record and putting iconic monsters above a major city, Apple TV made sure the return of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters starts with global attention rather than a quiet launch.
