Apple Maps Gets Detailed Update for 2026 Formula 1 Races

The 2026 F1 season begins next month, and Apple enters the sport in a major way with exclusive streaming rights in the United States on Apple TV. At the same time, the company has rolled out a new Apple Maps experience for the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix 2026, giving fans a closer look at the circuit before the lights go out.

This update focuses on Albert Park in Melbourne and gives fans a detailed, interactive way to explore the track. In Apple Maps, users can browse circuit layouts that show turn numbers, grandstands, and even a 3D model of the F1 Pit Garage. The experience highlights “realistic kerbs,” clearly labeled 3D grandstands, footbridges, and all 14 turns on the circuit, helping fans understand the layout before race day.

Apple announced the new feature as part of its build-up to the season opener, and the company says more races will receive similar treatment throughout the year.

Inside Apple Maps

Apple Maps now includes several layers designed for both remote viewers and people attending the race in person. Grand Prix elements display detailed track visuals, while pop-up locations show entrance gates, restrooms, water stations, first aid points, and merchandise stands. You can also get walking directions straight to your assigned grandstand, which makes navigating the venue easier during a busy race weekend.

The 3D Grand Prix Circuit Landmarks highlight key structures around Albert Park, including the Pit Building, Lakeside Stadium, the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, and the Finish Line. Beyond the circuit, Apple Maps also features 3D Melbourne landmarks such as AAMI Park, Eureka Tower, Luna Park, Marvel Stadium, Rod Laver Arena, the Royal Exhibition Building, the Shrine of Remembrance, and St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Apple Maps will expand these details to more races across the 2026 season. In addition, a new “2026 Formula 1 Tracks Around the World Guide” now lives inside Apple Maps and provides information on all twenty-four Grand Prix circuits. Starting this year, Apple TV subscribers can stream every F1 race at no extra charge, which ties the viewing experience directly to these new map features.
