tvOS 26.4 beta 3 now available for Apple TV

tvOS 26.4 beta 1 now available for Apple TV developers

Apple’s tvOS 26.4 beta cycle is moving along, and Apple has now seeded tvOS 26.4 developer beta 3 for Apple TV testers. This new drop arrives about a week after beta 2, and it carries build number 23L5224d.

Right now, beta 3 looks like a routine iteration aimed at stability and bug fixes rather than a big feature wave, since most of the notable tvOS 26.4 additions showed up earlier in the cycle.

How to update

  • On your Apple TV, open Settings
  • Go to System
  • Select Software Updates
  • Choose Get Beta Updates (or Update Software, depending on what you see)
  • Pick the tvOS 26 Developer Beta option (if offered), then download and install

If you do not see the beta option, make sure the Apple TV is signed in with the Apple ID tied to your developer access, then check again in Software Updates.

Changes in tvOS 26.4 so far

Apple has already introduced a few user-facing updates in tvOS 26.4 during earlier betas, so beta 3 is mostly expected to refine those.

Here are the main changes already associated with tvOS 26.4:

  • Continuous Audio Connection option for HDMI output, aimed at reducing audio dropouts or odd behavior when audio formats change during playback, especially in more complex home theater setups
  • More subtitle customization, including easier style switching and additional styling controls while watching content (app support can vary)
  • Removal of the iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps, with everything pushed through the Apple TV app experience

If you spot anything new that is specific to beta 3, especially changes tied to build 23L5224d, share what you are seeing in the comments.
