Lucid will roll out Apple CarPlay support for its Gravity SUV starting March 12. The feature will come as part of a software update and will be available for both new and existing vehicles. This move places the Lucid Gravity among the growing number of electric vehicles that support Apple’s in-car software integration.
Lucid confirmed that Apple CarPlay now comes standard on all new Lucid Gravity SUVs. Owners who already have the vehicle will receive the feature through a free over the air update. The rollout began in North America on March 12.
Drivers in the Middle East and Europe will receive the update later this month as part of the Lucid UX 3.5 software release. The update will also add Android Auto support, giving users more ways to connect their smartphones to the vehicle’s infotainment system.
Lucid says the feature will support both wired and wireless connections. This allows drivers to access navigation, calls, messages, and music through their iPhone directly from the car’s display.
Emad Dlala, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Software at Lucid, said, “Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are two of the most sought after features by our customers. We are now providing a seamless connection between mobile devices and the Lucid Gravity. We’re excited to introduce these features to Lucid Gravity, which now offers even greater comfort and convenience for owners.”
Lucid already introduced Apple CarPlay in its luxury Lucid Air sedan three years ago.
Meanwhile, reports indicate Tesla is planning to add Apple CarPlay support, though the company has not confirmed the plans. Rivian continues to prioritize Apple Car Key and Apple Watch integration over CarPlay support.
