Spotify’s New Taste Profile Feature Lets Users Adjust Music Suggestions

Spotify May Let You Edit Your 'Taste Profile' With Written Notes

Spotify is testing a new feature called Taste Profile that gives listeners more control over what the platform recommends. The feature focuses on improving how Spotify understands personal listening habits while allowing users to directly influence what appears on their homepage. Instead of relying only on algorithms, the tool lets listeners adjust their music, podcast, and audiobook preferences so recommendations better reflect what they actually want to hear.

Users tell Spotify what they want more of and what they want less of, and the system updates recommendations accordingly. Over time, the platform builds a clearer understanding of the listener’s taste by looking at daily habits, favorite genres, and the types of artists they return to often.

According to Spotify, the new tool shows how the platform interprets a listener’s interests and allows them to guide it.

“Taste Profile lets you see how Spotify understands your taste and shape it yourself, giving you the ability to steer what you see on the Spotify homepage. It brings together what you listen to across music, podcasts, and audiobooks, from the artists and genres you love to the habits that define your day.”

Spotify explains that listeners will also notice trends in their listening patterns, such as discovering a growing interest in certain genres or artists. When something does not match their preferences, users can flag it and ask for more or less of a certain vibe.

Limited Beta Rollout

Spotify is currently testing Taste Profile as a beta feature with Premium subscribers in New Zealand. The rollout will begin in the coming weeks, and the company plans to gather feedback before expanding the feature to more regions.

The company has recently introduced several updates aimed at improving discovery, including tools that refine playlist sound quality and features that help users find new audiobooks more easily.
