iOS 26.4 Now Available: New Emojis, Playlist Playground and Apple Music Changes

Apple Releases Revised iOS 26.4 Beta 3 Build for iPhone

Apple has released iOS 26.4 for iPhone users, and this update brings a solid mix of useful changes instead of just small fixes. The biggest additions include new emoji, a redesigned Apple Music experience, the new AI-powered Playlist Playground feature, and a change to Purchase Sharing in Family Sharing that gives adult members more control over how they pay. Apple also says the update includes bug fixes and security updates.

Apple Music gets a lot of attention in iOS 26.4. You now get Playlist Playground, which can build a playlist from a text prompt, while Concerts helps surface nearby live shows based on what you already listen to. The app also adds full-screen backgrounds on album and playlist pages, an Ambient Music widget for the Home Screen, and offline music recognition through Control Center.

There are a few practical system changes too. iOS 26.4 adds eight new emoji, improves keyboard accuracy when you type quickly, adds new urgent reminder controls, and changes Purchase Sharing so adult members in a Family Sharing group can use their own payment method instead of always relying on the family organizer.

How to update in short steps

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap Software Update

  • Freeform updates: the app gains advanced image creation and editing tools plus a premium content library.

iOS 26.4 looks like a meaningful mid-cycle update because it mixes visible changes with everyday usability fixes. Apple frames it as an update focused on Apple Music, emoji, bug fixes, and security improvements, and that lines up with what is rolling out today.
