Apple Rolls Out HomePod 26.4 Update for HomePod and HomePod mini

Apple Rolls Out HomePod 26.4 Update for HomePod and HomePod mini

Apple has released HomePod Software 26.4 for HomePod and HomePod mini, arriving alongside iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, and macOS Tahoe 26.4. This update follows HomePod Software 26.3 by a little over a month and appears to be a smaller maintenance release rather than one packed with new features.

Apple’s release notes for HomePod Software 26.4 are brief. The company says this version includes performance and stability improvements, so the focus here is on smoother day-to-day use, bug fixes, and overall reliability instead of major additions.

HomePod software usually installs automatically, but you can also check for the update yourself through the Home app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac. That is useful if you want to install the latest version right away instead of waiting for automatic rollout.

How to update HomePod in short steps

  1. Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac
  2. Tap or click the More button
  3. Go to Home Settings
  4. Select Software Update
  5. If HomePod Software 26.4 appears, install it

All the Changes

  • Performance improvements: Apple says the update helps HomePod run more smoothly
  • Stability fixes: This release is aimed at reducing bugs and improving reliability
  • No major new features listed: Apple has not announced any headline HomePod-only additions in version 26.4
  • Part of the wider 26.4 rollout: The update shipped alongside Apple’s latest iPhone, iPad, and Mac software releases

For reference, Apple’s broader HomePod software version 26 introduced support for crossfade with Apple Music and AirPlay improvements, but the 26.4 release notes themselves only mention performance and stability improvements.

If you use a HomePod every day for music, Siri, or smart home controls, this is still a worthwhile update to install. Let us know in the comments if you notice any changes after updating.
