Apple Maps Adds Suggested Places Feature in iOS 26.5 Beta

Apple Maps May Soon Get Smarter Search

Apple has introduced a new feature called Suggested Places in Apple Maps with the iOS 26.5 beta 1 update. The feature helps users discover locations based on trends, past searches, and nearby activity. It marks another step in improving how users explore places directly within the Maps app.

Apple first mentioned Suggested Places in a recent announcement about upcoming ads in Apple Maps. Now, the feature is live for users testing the iOS 26.5 beta. It appears when users tap the search bar inside the Maps app.

The updated search screen still includes quick access buttons for nearby locations and recent searches. Along with that, it now shows two Suggested Places based on user behavior and local trends.

Apple said, “Suggested Places will display recommendations based on what’s trending nearby, the user’s recent searches, and more.”

The feature combines different signals to offer useful suggestions. Early beta users have already noticed that recommendations update based on their recent searches, which shows the system adapts quickly.

This is the first beta version, so Apple will likely refine the feature before a wider release. The company plans to include sponsored suggestions in the future, but current recommendations remain organic without ads.

The rollout comes shortly after Apple confirmed that ads will appear in Maps later this year in the United States and Canada. Suggested Places will play a role in that broader strategy while still focusing on discovery.

For now, the feature adds a simple way to find new places based on real activity and personal preferences inside Apple Maps.
