Tubi has launched a new app inside ChatGPT that helps users find movies and TV shows through simple conversations. This marks the first time a streaming service has joined OpenAI’s ChatGPT apps feature. The move aims to make content discovery easier by combining AI search with Tubi’s large content library.
The new feature allows users to connect Tubi directly with ChatGPT and interact with it like a personal assistant. Users can type requests based on mood, genre, or theme, and the app returns a list of relevant content available on Tubi.
For example, users can ask for baseball-related movies or request something more specific like a thriller for the night. The app then shows curated suggestions based on the request. When a user selects a title, it opens directly on Tubi’s platform for streaming.
Tubi said, “a new way for viewers to discover and watch Tubi’s collection of over 300,000 movies and TV episodes.”
The company also explained how users can access the feature.
Tubi stated, “Users can add Tubi’s app from ChatGPT app store and type ‘@Tubi’ anytime to describe what they’re in the mood for, whether that’s ‘a movie that feels like a fever dream but isn’t horror’ or ‘a thriller for tonight.’ They’ll then receive curated, interactive results that they can watch on Tubi.”
OpenAI’s ChatGPT apps feature continues to expand as companies explore new ways to use AI as a platform. Tubi’s entry shows how streaming services can use AI to improve how users discover content instead of relying only on traditional browsing.
At the same time, other companies are experimenting with similar integrations. Apple has already introduced ChatGPT apps for services like Shazam and Apple Music.
This launch shows early progress in turning AI tools into platforms where users can search, decide, and act in one place.
