iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27: These Apple Devices Could Lose Support This Year

iOS 27: New Features, Release Timeline, and All Leaks So Far

Apple is set to introduce iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 at WWDC next week, and early reports suggest that several older iPhone, iPad, and Mac models will not receive the new software updates. While Apple is known for supporting devices for many years, hardware limitations eventually make it difficult for older products to keep up with new features and performance requirements.

iPhones Expected to Lose iOS 27 Support

According to a report from Instant Digital, the following iPhone models are expected to miss out on iOS 27:

  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation)

If this information proves accurate, users of these devices will remain on iOS 26 and continue receiving security updates for some time.

iPads That Could Miss iPadOS 27

Although there are no specific rumors about iPadOS 27 compatibility yet, these models are currently expected to lose support:

  • iPad (8th generation)
  • iPad Air 3
  • iPad mini 5

Macs Confirmed to Miss macOS 27

Apple has already confirmed that macOS 27 will not support Intel-based Macs. The following models are expected to be dropped:

  • MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)
  • iMac (2020)
  • Mac Pro (2019)

Apple’s shift away from Intel hardware means macOS 27 will focus entirely on Apple silicon Macs, allowing the company to optimize performance, efficiency, and future software features.
