iOS 27 Brings Preview’s Interactive Loupe Easter Egg to iPhone

Apple is bringing Preview’s interactive loupe easter egg to iPhone with iOS 27, giving users a small but playful way to interact with the app’s Liquid Glass design. The feature lets users move the loupe across the Preview app’s main screen, where text and content beneath it distort as if viewed through a real magnifying glass.

Preview Gets a Playful Touch on iPhone

Apple first introduced this easter egg on iPadOS when it brought the Preview app to iPad, but iPhone users did not get the same interactive detail at the time. With iOS 27, Apple is now adding the same loupe effect to the iPhone version of Preview, making the app feel more polished and consistent across devices.

The loupe also connects back to Preview’s original Mac icon from 2001, which showed photos placed under a magnifying glass. Apple later changed the icon several times, and last year’s Liquid Glass redesign kept the loupe as the main visual element.

A Small Detail That Fits Liquid Glass

The new interaction matches Apple’s broader Liquid Glass design language, which focuses on depth, movement, and visual response. While this easter egg does not add a major productivity feature, it gives Preview a more lively feel and shows how Apple continues to add small interactive touches across iOS 27.

For users who enjoy Apple’s hidden details, the interactive loupe in Preview will be a fun addition when iOS 27 arrives on iPhone.
