Safari Technology Preview 247 Arrives With MCP Server for Developers

Apple has released Safari Technology Preview 247, bringing a major new tool for web developers along with a long list of fixes across the browser. The experimental browser lets users test upcoming Safari features before Apple adds them to the main Safari release.

The biggest change in Safari Technology Preview 247 is the new Safari Model Context Protocol server, which helps developers debug websites with the support of AI agents. With this feature, an MCP-compatible AI client can connect to a Safari browser window and understand how code actually appears and behaves in the browser.

This gives developers a clearer view of the user experience on a website, which helps them find layout issues, rendering problems, and other bugs faster during development.

Safari Technology Preview 247 also includes fixes and improvements for Accessibility, CSS, Fonts, Forms, HTML, JavaScript, MathML, Media, Networking, Rendering, SVG, Scrolling, Security, Web API, WebDriver, WebGL, and more.

The update is available through Software Update in System Settings or System Preferences for users who have already downloaded Safari Technology Preview from Apple’s website.

Safari Technology Preview runs alongside the regular Safari browser, so users can test new browser features without replacing their main browser. Apple does not require a developer account to download it, although the browser mainly targets developers and advanced users who want early access to Safari changes.
