Apple has released a third version of its AirPods beta firmware for developers, bringing new software support for AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2.
The latest beta firmware carries the build number 9A5314b and remains limited to developers for now, which means regular users will not receive it through the normal AirPods firmware update process.
What’s new in the AirPods beta firmware
The update adds support for upcoming AirPods features linked to iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS Golden Gate, including:
- A new AirPods settings interface
- A slider for Adaptive mode
- Support for custom EQ
- Compatibility with the new Siri AI features
Developers can enable beta firmware updates from the AirPods settings menu when the earbuds or headphones are connected to an Apple device running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, or later.
To install the firmware, users need to connect their AirPods to an Apple device and keep them charging, although the update can take a few hours because Apple does not offer a manual update button for AirPods.
