Strava is looking to become more than just a place to log your daily workouts. Starting today, the popular fitness tracking app is rolling out a brand new Events tab designed to connect athletes in the real world. This update brings a massive directory of local races, group runs, and community rides directly into the main application, making it much easier to find your next starting line.
The new hub curates local events based on your personal running goals
You can find the new Events section tucked inside the existing Groups tab on the mobile app. To make the feature more powerful, the company partnered with the Runna training app to automatically populate the database with thousands of active global events. Instead of relying on random web searches, users can now browse and register for officially supported races directly on their phone.
The app uses smart filters to match you with the perfect event. The Races hub looks at your upcoming running goals, your weekly schedule, and your personal preferences to suggest events that fit your current fitness level. If you want to search manually, you can filter the massive directory by distance, date, exact location, sport type, and even predicted temperature or elevation.
This update also brings a big boost for community organizers. The company completely revamped its Club Organizer Hub on the web, offering new tools to help local groups build their membership. With run club participation growing by nearly 60 percent over the last year, these new digital tools will help local organizers manage the massive influx of runners.
Whether you are looking for a weekend 5K or a casual evening group ride, the updated Strava app makes connecting with your local fitness community easier than ever.
