Apple TV Confirms Dope Thief Season 2 Won’t Happen

Apple TV has officially decided not to move forward with Dope Thief Season 2, ending more than a year of uncertainty around Ridley Scott’s acclaimed crime drama. The series completed its eight-episode run in April 2025 and left enough room for another chapter, but Apple chose not to continue the story.

Producer Confirms Dope Thief’s Ending

Scott Free Productions Chief Content Officer David W. Zucker confirmed that the show will remain a one-season series.

Speaking to ScreenRant at the Italian Global Series 2026, Zucker explained that the creators designed Dope Thief to work as either a limited series or an ongoing drama. He said the series performed relatively well for Apple, although the company decided against ordering more episodes.

The crime drama followed Ray Driscoll and Manny Carvalho, two longtime friends who posed as DEA agents to rob drug dealers across Philadelphia. Their plan collapsed after they targeted a stash house already under federal surveillance, placing them inside a much larger criminal investigation.

Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura led the cast, while Ridley Scott directed the opening episode. The series also received strong reviews, and Henry earned another Primetime Emmy nomination for his performance.

Apple has not explained its decision, although the confirmation now ends any remaining hopes for Dope Thief Season 2.
