WhatsApp is testing new update controls for its Mac app, giving beta users a choice between daily builds, weekly releases, and manual update checks. The feature appears in WhatsApp beta for Mac version 26.30.10.20 and gives users more control over how quickly they receive bug fixes, stability improvements, and early features.

WABetaInfo reports that the new setting appears inside an “App updates” section in WhatsApp settings, where users can view the installed version, check for updates manually, and switch between two automatic update schedules without reinstalling the app.

“Both options deliver the same core features, but the timing differs. The ‘Latest version’ option may occasionally offer new features ahead of the weekly build.”

WhatsApp gives Mac users two update choices

The “Latest version” option installs updates more often and can deliver daily builds with recent fixes and improvements. This setting suits users who want the newest WhatsApp version as soon as it becomes available, although daily builds can sometimes include unfinished changes or minor bugs.

The “Stable weekly version” combines recent fixes into one weekly release, giving users a more predictable schedule and fewer changes during the working week. This option makes more sense for people who use WhatsApp on Mac for work and prefer stability over immediate access to new additions.

WhatsApp introduced the feature after ending its Mac beta program on Apple’s TestFlight platform. Users can still download beta builds directly from WhatsApp’s official servers, while the new update controls handle future releases inside the app.

The feature is currently rolling out to some beta testers, so users running the latest build may not see it immediately. WhatsApp has not confirmed when the update controls will reach all beta users or the stable Mac app.
