Widow’s Bay Season 2 has plenty of story left

Spoilers ahead for the Widow’s Bay Season 1 finale.

Season 1 started with Tom trying to turn the isolated New England island into a tourist destination while dismissing the locals who insisted that their home was cursed. His tourism plan eventually worked, although the supernatural stories that he treated as superstition quickly began coming true.

The finale changes Tom’s situation completely. He discovers that his son Evan is the final descendant of Richard Warren, whose bloodline is connected to the island’s curse. Tom therefore faces a much more personal problem because ending the curse appears to put Evan directly in danger.

Things become even worse after the church bell tolls eight times near the end of the finale, suggesting the island expects eight more sacrifices. The curse clearly remains active, giving Season 2 an immediate storyline rather than forcing the series to introduce another mystery from scratch.

When will Widow’s Bay Season 2 come out?

Apple has not announced a Widow’s Bay Season 2 release date yet. The company confirmed the renewal before the Season 1 finale and also signed creator Katie Dippold to an overall deal, keeping the person behind the series closely involved with Apple TV.

Matthew Rhys is expected to remain central to the story as Tom because the finale leaves both Tom and Evan directly tied to the unresolved curse. Apple has not yet revealed the complete Season 2 cast, episode count or filming dates.

In the meantime, all 10 episodes of Widow’s Bay Season 1 are available on Apple TV. The show is also getting special one-night theatrical screenings at select AMC locations on August 12, giving fans another chance to revisit the final episodes while waiting for more Season 2 news.
