Apple has released macOS 27 Golden Gate beta 5 to developers as testing continues ahead of the operating system’s public launch later this year. The latest build follows beta 4, which arrived on July 20, and should mainly focus on fixing bugs, improving performance, and polishing features introduced earlier in the beta cycle.

How to Install
Before installing beta software, back up your Mac so you can recover important files if something goes wrong.
- Open System Settings on your Mac.
- Select General.
- Click Software Update.
- Click the i button next to Beta Updates.
- Select macOS Golden Gate Developer Beta from the menu.
- Click Done.
- Return to Software Update and install the available macOS 27 beta 5 update.
Your Mac needs to be enrolled for developer beta updates before the new build appears.

Apple has not documented any major new user-facing features specifically for beta 5 yet. The current macOS 27 developer release notes still cover beta 4, so the fifth beta appears focused on stability, bug fixes, and further refinement for now.

- Performance improvements: macOS 27 includes faster AirDrop transfers, quicker network file browsing, and improved Safari start-page loading.
- Improved external display support: The update adds support for higher resolutions on ultra-wide displays, including 5K at 120Hz on supported hardware.
