Mark Gurman said on X that “everyone calls it the Ultra internally,” suggesting the name has become common among Apple employees familiar with the upcoming foldable iPhone.
iPhone Ultra name is still not confirmed
However, internal terminology does not guarantee Apple will use the same branding when the phone reaches customers, since Apple keeps product names closely guarded until launch and many employees do not know final marketing decisions in advance.
The “iPhone Ultra” name could simply be an internal shorthand that became popular as outside reports started using it, while Apple’s marketing team could still choose another name before the September announcement.
There is also some debate over whether Ultra fits the foldable iPhone’s position in Apple’s lineup, especially because Apple usually reserves the name for products designed to sit above its existing premium models.
For now, iPhone Ultra appears to be the strongest rumored name for Apple’s foldable iPhone, although the final branding will only become clear when Apple officially introduces the device at its September event.
