Severance Season 3 is officially filming, bringing Mark, Helly, Gemma, and Lumon Industries closer to their next chapter after the huge Season 2 cliffhanger. Adam Scott recently confirmed that he is currently filming the new season, although Apple has yet to announce when it will premiere.
Apple renewed Severance for Season 3 immediately after the Season 2 finale in March 2025. The renewal followed a record-setting second season, which Apple described as its most-watched series at the time.

Where does Severance Season 3 begin?

Season 3 has a very clear problem to deal with after Mark S. made one of the biggest decisions in the series so far.
The Season 2 finale revealed more about Lumon’s Cold Harbor project and Gemma’s treatment on the testing floor. Mark eventually reached Gemma and helped her escape the severed floor, but his innie stopped before following her outside. Instead, Mark S. turned back toward Helly, took her hand, and ran deeper into Lumon as alarms sounded throughout the building.
That decision leaves Gemma outside the severed floor while Mark’s innie remains inside with Helly. It also creates a direct conflict between Mark’s two identities. Outie Mark wants his wife back, while innie Mark wants a life of his own with Helly.
Lumon has a much bigger problem now
Season 2 also changed the balance of power inside Lumon.
Mark, Helly, and Dylan openly worked against the company, while the Cold Harbor operation ended in chaos. Mr. Drummond died during Mark’s attempt to reach Gemma, Milchick lost control of the MDR team, and Lumon’s secret testing operation suffered a major breach.
Season 3 can now explore how Lumon responds to that rebellion and what happens to the employees trapped inside its severed system.
There is also the question of Mark’s reintegration. Season 2 showed that combining his innie and outie memories comes with serious physical consequences, so his two lives remain on a collision course.
When will Severance Season 3 come out?
Apple has not announced a Severance Season 3 release date, and Scott says he does not know when the new episodes will arrive. With filming now underway, production and post-production still need to be completed before Apple sets a premiere date.
For now, Mark and Helly are still somewhere inside Lumon, Gemma has finally crossed the severed-floor exit, and the company has plenty of reasons to come after all three.
