Episode 3, “Richmond’s Got Talent,” filled several holes in the Lady Greyhounds roster after the coaches held open tryouts. Shannon and Lizzie emerged as important additions, while Gemma returned to football and scored the winning goal in a preseason match. Her return also reopened her complicated history with assistant coach Alice Chilton.

That suddenly gives Ted a different problem. Richmond now has enough individual personalities and talent, but Episode 4’s synopsis confirms that cliques have started forming.

One theory is that the coaches will organize a team-building day away from football, following a familiar Ted Lasso formula. Ted has often used unusual exercises, conversations and shared experiences to solve problems that traditional coaching cannot fix.

Gemma and Alice should remain central to the tension. Alice previously struggled with Gemma walking away from football, and bringing her back into the squad does not automatically resolve their history. Episode 4 gives the show room to explore whether Alice can separate her personal feelings from her coaching responsibilities.

Lizzie could also emerge as one of Richmond’s early leaders. The single mother showed during the tryouts that she brings maturity and determination to the squad, qualities that become particularly useful when younger or less experienced players start dividing into groups.

Ted’s own storyline also deserves attention. The Episode 4 description specifically says he will adjust to life outside the locker room, suggesting Season 4 will continue examining his place in Richmond beyond coaching. Season 3 ended with Ted returning to the United States to be closer to Henry, while Season 4 brought him back to England to manage Richmond’s second-division women’s side.

Episode 4 could set up Richmond’s biggest test yet

The team-building problems are likely building toward Episode 5, “Riches of Embarrassment,” when Richmond will face Chelsea and Alice will come under pressure. Rebecca will also deal with a complicated personal situation.

That makes “Greyhounds’ Day Off” an important episode before the season moves into tougher matches. Ted has players now. His next challenge is getting them to trust each other before Richmond meets stronger opposition.

What do you think will happen during the Greyhounds’ day off, and which player will emerge as the team’s leader? Let us know your Ted Lasso Season 4, Episode 4 theories in the comments.
