Apple Store Plans Hint at Three New Home Products Coming This Fall

Apple ‘HomePad’ Prototype Includes MagSafe-Style Wall Mount

Apple is preparing major changes to the Home sections inside its retail stores this fall, and the scale of those plans is adding to expectations that the company will launch more than refreshed versions of the Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple plans to rearrange parts of its store Avenues and add new accessory bays designed to showcase upcoming products. Apple already plans updated Apple TV and HomePod mini models for the same period, while the larger retail changes suggest its long-rumored smart home hub is also getting closer to launch.

Apple has been developing several Home products for years, although delays surrounding the company’s upgraded Siri pushed parts of the roadmap back. With the new Siri system now moving forward, Apple appears ready to refresh a category that has seen relatively few major hardware changes in recent years.

Apple’s Home hub could arrive this fall

The upcoming smart home hub is expected to feature a square 7-inch display and serve as a central controller for Home accessories, Siri requests, widgets and FaceTime calls. Reports also suggest Apple plans two versions, including a model with an integrated speaker and another designed for wall mounting with magnets on the rear.

The device is expected to use an A18 chip and run a new operating system designed around home controls and glanceable information. Apple could introduce it alongside the refreshed Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini, both of which are expected to support the company’s newer Siri features.

Meanwhile, another recent rumor suggests Apple is developing an updated Siri Remote for the next Apple TV 4K, although details about its design and new controls remain unclear.

Apple has not announced any of these Home products yet, but the planned retail changes suggest the company is preparing for a broader Home hardware push this fall.
