OpenAI has introduced a new ChatGPT feature that lets users turn photos, ideas, and inside jokes into custom stickers, then export them directly to iMessage or WhatsApp. The feature also supports transparent backgrounds, which makes the finished images ready to use as stickers without extra editing.
Users can start by opening Images in the ChatGPT sidebar and selecting Stickers. From there, they can upload one or several photos and ask ChatGPT to turn each image into a sticker, create several variations, or add and remove specific elements.
The tool also supports style changes, so users can upload another image as a visual reference or describe the look they want in a prompt. ChatGPT can also expand parts of an image when needed, which helps when the original photo has cropped areas.

How ChatGPT sticker sharing works
Once the sticker is ready, users can tap the “Add to chat apps” option and choose where they want to send it. Current export options include:
- iMessage
- Save to Photos
WhatsApp requires users to export at least three stickers at once, which comes from Meta’s sticker pack requirements.
When users export a sticker to iMessage, it appears inside a dedicated ChatGPT section in the Stickers carousel within Messages. This gives users direct access to their newly created stickers without manually saving and importing each image.
OpenAI says users can turn any photo, idea, or joke into a sticker pack through ChatGPT Images, while the transparent background feature also works with other types of generated images.
