Apple has released a new version of its Polishing Cloth in the US for $9, cutting the price of one of its most talked-about accessories by more than half. The previous version sold for $19, while Apple now marks the replacement model as “New” on its online store.

The new Polishing Cloth carries the product number MLH74AM/A, replacing the previous MW693AM/A model sold in the US. Apple has not announced any major technical change to the material, and its description remains focused on safely cleaning Apple displays, including models with nano-texture glass.
New Apple Polishing Cloth details
| Specification | New model | Previous model |
|---|---|---|
| US price | $9 | $19 |
| Product number | MLH74AM/A | MW693AM/A |
| Material | Soft, nonabrasive | Soft, nonabrasive |
| Nano-texture support | Yes | Yes |
| Included in box | One Polishing Cloth | One Polishing Cloth |
Apple says the cloth uses a soft, nonabrasive material designed to remove marks from displays without damaging the surface. This remains especially relevant for nano-texture displays, where Apple recommends more careful cleaning because the etched glass surface requires appropriate materials.

The company does not provide detailed information about the cloth’s fiber composition, thickness, dimensions, or any manufacturing changes compared with the $19 version. Based on Apple’s published specifications, the lower price appears to be the main confirmed difference.
Works with most current Apple devices
Apple lists a wide range of compatible products, including:
- iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air and iPhone 17e
- M4 and M5 iPad Pro and newer iPad Air models
- M5 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models
- MacBook Neo
- Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3
- Studio Display, Studio Display XDR and Pro Display XDR
Compatibility also extends several generations back, including older iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watches, so the accessory does not require one of Apple’s latest devices.
The price reduction is significant because Apple introduced the standalone Polishing Cloth for $19 in October 2021, a price that quickly attracted attention given the abundance of inexpensive microfiber alternatives.
At $9, Apple’s new Polishing Cloth is substantially cheaper while retaining the same stated purpose and broad device compatibility. It is available through Apple’s US online store now.
