Anthropic has updated Claude Cowork with memory support that connects directly with the memory already available in Claude chat, allowing users to continue tasks without repeatedly explaining the same preferences, background details, or previous work.
The change means Claude can now use relevant information remembered from regular chats when Cowork runs a task in the cloud, while information learned through Cowork can also remain available when users return to chat.
Anthropic says Cowork now uses the same memory system as Claude chat, which should make it easier to continue ongoing work across different parts of the service without restarting the conversation each time.

Sensitive topics remain optional
Anthropic has kept additional controls around sensitive information, including subjects related to health and personal beliefs, which Claude does not save to memory by default.
Users who want Claude to remember those topics can enable the option manually through Memory settings, giving them more control over the type of information Claude keeps for future conversations and Cowork tasks.
The company says memory is enabled by default for Free, Pro, and Max plans across the web, desktop, and mobile versions of Claude, although sensitive-topic memory remains disabled unless users specifically turn it on.
Claude users on iPhone and Android should also update to the latest version of the mobile app to receive the newest memory changes.
With the update, Anthropic is making Claude Cowork and regular chat work more closely together, particularly for users who move between conversations and cloud-based tasks while working on longer projects.
