iOS 27 Users May Need to Re-Add Their Digital ID to Apple Wallet

Apple has made several changes to the Digital ID passport feature in Apple Wallet with iOS 27, but some beta users are finding their Digital ID deactivated after updating.

Apple says affected users need to remove the deactivated Digital ID from Wallet and add it again. Setting it up requires scanning an unexpired U.S. passport, reading its embedded chip with the iPhone, and completing identity verification.

Digital ID works at supported TSA checkpoints for domestic identity verification, but it does not replace a physical passport for international travel.
