Apple is reportedly planning a new home security and monitoring service for 2027 as part of its broader push into smart home products. The service would work alongside a new in-home security sensor and automation device that Apple also plans to launch during the same period.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is developing a privacy-focused security camera and automation device that will use AI to monitor its surroundings without relying on traditional continuous video footage. The device will reportedly connect to a new home security and monitoring service, giving Apple a new subscription opportunity inside its growing services business.
Apple is expanding its smart home plans
Apple already has several Home products in development, including a new Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, and a dedicated home hub often referred to as HomePad. A security service would give these devices a larger role inside one connected home system.

Apple could also eventually include the security service in Apple One, although Gurman has not confirmed any pricing or bundle plans yet. A paid monitoring option would also place Apple closer to companies that already offer connected cameras, sensors, and subscription-based home protection.
The reported 2027 launch suggests Apple sees home security as a major part of its long-term smart home strategy.
