Sinestro could hold the answer to Hal Jordan’s death because he is waiting on the alien world reached through Hal’s secret vault, and he may know what Hal did during the years missing from the Halogram. That makes him the finale’s most important witness, but not proof that he killed Hal or that his account can be trusted.

Sinestro sits inside Hal’s best-hidden evidence
Episode 7 takes John Stewart and Hal’s digital copy through the vault portal to Antaan’s destroyed world. Finding Sinestro there ties him directly to a secret Hal protected even from the people closest to him on Earth.

The location matters as much as Sinestro’s presence. Hal did not leave a note pointing to an ordinary suspect. He left a locked route to a planetary disaster shaped by fear. Whether Sinestro was hidden, trapped or cooperating with Hal remains unconfirmed before the finale.
He can fill the Halogram’s 20-year blind spot
The Halogram is a backup of Hal’s consciousness, but its memories stop in 2006. It can explain the younger Hal’s instincts and family history without knowing what the older Hal did immediately before his death. Sinestro may be able to describe the missing relationship between those two versions.
That gives the finale a useful test. If Sinestro’s story matches the vault, the portal and details the old backup knows, John gains a chain of evidence. If it conflicts with all three, Sinestro becomes less a solution than another person trying to control Hal’s legacy.
An answer is not the same as a confession
The preview emphasizes fear and places John face to face with Sinestro. Comic readers will recognize the possible path toward yellow power, but the television story has not confirmed that development. The same caution applies to Hal’s murder. Being positioned at the center of the mystery does not establish guilt.
Sinestro could reveal why Hal kept the portal, who benefited from the fear event or why Hal’s ring was meant to reach John. Any of those answers could redirect suspicion toward Earth without clearing Sinestro of his own actions. His value is that he may know the structure of the secret, not that he is morally reliable.
John’s final task is therefore forensic as well as heroic. He needs to compare Sinestro’s claims with the physical evidence and the Halogram’s limited memory. Accepting a dramatic explanation too quickly would repeat the season’s recurring mistake of treating Hal’s reputation as a substitute for proof.
Sinestro is the best route to Hal’s missing years, but the finale still has to prove every conclusion he offers. Do you think he is a witness, a culprit or both? Join the discussion below.
