Dwight Tries to Build a Legitimate Business Empire
The episode opens with Dwight shopping alongside his sister Joanne, who wants him to dress like a successful businessman. Meanwhile, Dwight introduces Friedman Enterprises, a company named after an anagram of Manfredi.
He encourages his crew to pursue legitimate opportunities, although their interpretation of his instructions soon creates trouble.
Mitch develops an insurance fraud scheme involving damaged cars, while Tyson and Spencer continue selling ecstasy despite warnings from Bodhi.
Their business attracts the attention of Santiago, a rival dealer who claims control over their nightclub territory.
Goodie advises them to negotiate, following the episode’s central question, “What Would Dwight Do?” However, Tyson chooses to rob Santiago, and the situation turns violent when he shoots the dealer.
Santiago survives, but a mysterious British man later visits him in the hospital demanding answers about his missing drugs, introducing another potential enemy.
Quiet Ray Takes Control of the New York Mafia
Meanwhile, Dwight wants to expand his successful Montague whisky business across the country, which requires entering territory controlled by Quiet Ray Renzetti.
Dwight offers Ray a 25% stake in exchange for distribution rights in the Northeast. Ray eventually agrees but insists on sending someone to Tulsa to oversee his interests.
Ray also establishes his authority over the Invernizzi crime family by revealing the severed head of Luca, who apparently opposed his leadership.
Bill Bevilaqua complicates the relationship by privately warning both men against trusting each other.
Tulsa King Season 4 Episode 1 Ending Explained: Are Margaret and Thresher Dead?
The premiere’s biggest mystery begins when Dwight and Margaret have dinner at an Italian restaurant and meet a sommelier named Leonardo Timpone.
Timpone later delivers an expensive case of wine to Dwight’s bar. Bodhi becomes suspicious of the delivery, although the crew drinks the wine during their celebration.
Meanwhile, Margaret boards a private plane with Governor Cal Thresher.
During the flight, everyone aboard, including the pilots, appears unconscious. The aircraft receives unanswered radio calls before crashing into the ocean.
Joanne subsequently wakes Dwight and informs him about the disaster.
The episode does not confirm whether Margaret or Thresher survived. However, their condition before the crash raises serious questions about whether someone deliberately caused the incident.
An earlier conversation provides another possible clue. Thresher opposes a technology company’s plans to develop AI facilities on farmland, potentially creating a powerful political enemy.
The wine delivery also remains suspicious, especially considering Bodhi’s earlier concerns. Still, the episode provides no definitive evidence identifying who caused the crash.
As Ready Steady Cut’s premiere recap also observes, the incident introduces a serious new threat just as Dwight attempts to expand his empire.
The ending leaves Dwight facing a possible personal tragedy, while the suspicious circumstances surrounding the crash suggest that his business ambitions have attracted enemies beyond organized crime.
