What Is Tenzing About on Apple TV?
Tenzing follows Norgay (Genden Phuntsok), a talented Himalayan climber who dreams of reaching the summit of Mount Everest. However, joining the British expedition proves difficult because the team initially sees him primarily as a Sherpa guide rather than an equal climbing partner.
With encouragement from his wife Dawa (Thinley Lhamo) and support from expedition secretary Jill Henderson (Caitríona Balfe), Norgay works to convince expedition leader Colonel John Hunt (Willem Dafoe) that he deserves a place on the climbing team.
His journey eventually brings him together with Edmund Hillary (Tom Hiddleston), forming a partnership built on trust and shared determination.
The film also explores Norgay’s spiritual connection to Everest, traditionally known as Chomolungma. While the British expedition focuses on reaching the summit, Norgay considers the mountain sacred, adding a deeper personal meaning to his historic achievement.
