Stars of the major hit-series Downton Abbey and It will be in the Apple-commissioned version of Defending Jacob. Michelle Dockery and Jaeden Martell will join Captain America star Chris Evans in the new series.

Ms. Dockery will take on the role of Laurie Barber, the wife of Mr. Evans’ character Andy Barber, and mother of Jacob, played by Mr. Martell (via Deadline). She came to fame as Lady Mary Crawley in the hit series Downton Abbey. Mr. Martell starred in It and St. Vincent, amongst other things.

The 2012 novel by William Landay, on which the short series is based, tells the story, of Jacob and his father. Aged 14, Jacob is accused of murder. This version is one of a number of original pieces of programming commissioned by Apple for its expected streaming service.
