Cozy period drama When Hope Calls is reportedly heading to Netflix in the United States for the first time, giving the When Calls the Heart spinoff a chance to reach a much larger streaming audience.
The series originally premiered in August 2019 on Hallmark Movies Now, with its first season running for 10 episodes. It later moved to Great American Family, where the story of Brookfield has continued with new characters and seasons.
What is When Hope Calls about?
When Hope Calls takes place in the small Canadian town of Brookfield around 1916. The original story follows sisters Lillian Walsh and Grace Bennett, who reunite after being separated as children and open an orphanage together.

The series mixes period drama, romance and small-town stories, while focusing heavily on the orphanage and the people living around Brookfield. Morgan Kohan stars as Lillian, while the original cast also includes Jocelyn Hudon as Grace, Ryan-James Hatanaka as Gabriel and Wendy Crewson as Tess.
More recent seasons expanded the cast with Cindy Busby as Nora, Christopher Russell as Mountie Michael and Nick Bateman as Wyatt.
When Hope Calls has already grown beyond its first season
The Netflix arrival comes after the franchise recently received another major vote of confidence. Season 3, titled When Hope Calls: Brookfield, premiered in April 2026 and ran for six episodes through May.
Great American Media has also renewed When Hope Calls: Brookfield for Season 4. The next season is scheduled to premiere in spring 2027 across Great American Family, Great American Pure Flix and GFAM+.
For Netflix viewers who enjoy gentle period dramas, family stories and small-town romance, When Hope Calls should be an easy series to add to the watchlist.
