Apple has started its 50th anniversary celebrations with a series of global events, beginning at its Grand Central store in New York and now moving to China, where the company plans another major event with a live performance and executive presence.
Apple hosted a live performance by Alicia Keys in New York, and the company is preparing for another event at the Apple Taikoo Li Chengdu store, where a stage setup has already appeared in multiple social media posts.
Celebration in China
The company continues its anniversary push with a focus on retail experiences, and Apple’s retail chief Deirdre O’Brien has already appeared in China through a livestream and store visit, with expectations that she will attend the Chengdu event alongside other executives.
Apple CEO Tim Cook also marked the milestone with a letter titled “50 Years of Thinking Different,” where he said the company remains focused on the future while still thanking “the millions of people who make Apple what it is today.”
He repeated a familiar line from the company’s past, saying “the people crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do,” while also honoring “the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers” who shaped Apple’s journey.
The Chengdu event is expected to feature a live performance by Chinese singer Chris Lee, with possible appearances from senior leadership, as Apple builds momentum ahead of its official anniversary date on April 1.
