Michigan Public Health has notified participants in the Apple Hearing Study that accidentally collected extra data. Those users have been told that the unnecessary data will be deleted, AppleInsider reported. As well as removing the data, the Research app has been updated to stop a repeat of the issue.

Update to Research App Fixes Apple Hearing Study Issue

The study is being conducted by the World Health Organization and the University of Michigan. Thirty-days of data that had not been requested were unintentionally collected. The error was a result of a (now corrected) bug. Users should update the Research app from App Store to make sure they are using the latest version.
