Apple is preparing its first bug fix update for iOS 26, just days after the new operating system became available to the public. The update, iOS 26.0.1, carries the build number 23A35_ and should address early issues users face with the new software.
Early signs of release
The information comes from a private account on X known for accurately sharing details of upcoming Apple software updates. These posts typically precede a release by only a few days, suggesting iOS 26.0.1 is imminent. 9to5Mac confirmed this report, noting that the update is expected soon for iPhone users.
Apple has not detailed what changes iOS 26.0.1 will include, but the company generally uses these quick follow-up updates to patch bugs and improve stability. Given the timing, the fix is expected to arrive before the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 reach customers tomorrow.
Camera bug fix in progress
Apple confirmed it is also developing a separate software update to resolve a camera bug affecting the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro. The issue, described as “very rare,” was first spotted in reviews ahead of launch. In some cases, photos show blacked-out portions or artifacts when exposed to LED light displays.
CNN Underscored’s Henry Casey identified the problem during testing at a concert. He reported that about one in ten photos contained small blacked-out sections when using the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The review raised questions about image reliability in environments with bright LED screens.
What’s next for iOS updates
Based on Apple’s release history, the company is likely to start beta testing iOS 26.1 within the next week. The broader rollout of iOS 26.1 should arrive in late October, about five to six weeks after the initial iOS 26 release. That timeline would be consistent with Apple’s pattern for previous 26.1 updates.
If Apple sticks to its usual schedule, users should first see iOS 26.0.1 in the coming days, followed by iOS 26.1 toward the end of October.
