Apple has upgraded the MacBook Air with the new M5 chip, and alongside the performance boost, the company now bundles a more powerful charger in the box. All configurations of the new model include Apple’s 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max, which replaces the older 30W and 35W options that shipped with earlier versions.
This change gives buyers a better standard charging setup without paying extra, and it also aligns the MacBook Air with Apple’s newer power accessories introduced last fall. At the same time, customers still have the option to choose alternative adapters during checkout, depending on their needs.

More power in the box
Previously, Apple bundled either a 30W USB-C Power Adapter or a 35W Dual USB-C Port Compact Power Adapter, depending on the configuration. Now, every M5 MacBook Air includes:
- 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max as standard
- Improved baseline charging performance
- Compatibility with existing USB-C charging setups
If you configure a build to order model, you can still upgrade:
- 35W Dual USB-C Port Compact Power Adapter for $20 more
- 70W USB-C Power Adapter for $20 more, which enables fast charging up to 50 percent in 30 minutes
Pre orders begin March 4, and availability starts March 11. With a stronger charger included by default, buyers now get better value straight out of the box.
