Shazam introduced a new feature named Popular Segments that shows you the exact moment in a track when listeners triggered the song ID tool. The update brings clear insight into which part of a song draws the most attention.
This feature highlights the time window where users felt curious enough to tap Shazam. For example, the data might show a spike between the thirty and thirty-five second mark, revealing when listeners wanted to know the song’s name. This approach turns user activity into a simple snapshot of how a track grabs interest.
Shazam built the system around weekly tag volume. It measures the busiest points in a song and presents that activity in an interactive chart. You can hover over different points to see the time markers and understand how popularity rises or falls across the track.
How the feature works
Shazam explains that Popular Segments focuses on the moments that produced the highest Shazam activity over the past week. It is currently available for top tracks listed on Shazam’s charts. The tool also reveals relative popularity across the song and lets you explore exact timestamps.
Apple says the feature starts rolling out today on Shazam.com for both desktop and mobile users. Apple has not said whether the feature will reach the Shazam app on iPhone or iPad.
Shazam has been part of Apple’s ecosystem since 2018. It works on the web, inside the app, and through the Recognize Music control on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. You can also trigger it with Siri, which makes it easy to identify any song around you.
Last month, Shazam refreshed its iPhone app with a Liquid Glass design. The update focused on cleaner visuals and smoother navigation.
Popular Segments gives both fans and artists a clearer picture of what makes a song stand out. It shows you which moments spark curiosity and how listeners react to different parts of a track.
