Verizon said it will give affected customers a $20 account credit after the network outage on Wednesday. Customers must take action to receive the credit.
How to claim the credit
Verizon told customers to log in to the My Verizon app to accept the $20 credit. The option may not appear right away. Verizon said customers will receive a text message when the credit is ready.
The company said the average $20 credit covers multiple days of service.
“This credit isn’t meant to make up for what happened. But it’s a way of acknowledging your time and showing that this matters to us.”
Verizon said
Verizon apologized again and said it is working to improve its service.
“We are sorry for what you experienced and will continue to work hard day and night to provide the outstanding network and service that you expect from Verizon.”
The company also advised customers who still have issues to restart their devices to reconnect to the network.
The outage began around mid-day on Wednesday and lasted until about 10 p.m. Eastern Time. During that time, many customers could not use key services.
Affected services included:
- Making and receiving phone calls
- Sending and receiving text messages
- Using mobile data
Verizon said the network is now fully restored. Customers who experienced the disruption should watch for the text message and claim the credit in the app once it appears.
