An official YouTube app is now available for the Apple Vision Pro. Starting today, users can download the standalone app from the visionOS App Store and watch videos on a theater-sized virtual screen inside immersive environments. This marks the first major app expansion for the headset in recent months and gives Vision Pro owners a native way to access YouTube.
The new app supports the full YouTube catalog. That includes standard videos, 180-degree videos, 360-degree videos, and YouTube Shorts. On Vision Pro models powered by the M5 chip, users can stream videos in up to 8K resolution. The experience runs directly on visionOS, which means smoother playback and better integration with spatial features built into the device.
According to YouTube, the app gives users access to their subscriptions, playlists, watch history, and recommended videos. Every feature available on the core platform carries over to the Vision Pro version.
From Browser Access to Native App
Until now, Vision Pro users had to rely on the Safari browser to watch YouTube. While that method worked, it did not offer a dedicated interface optimized for spatial viewing. A third-party app called Juno briefly appeared on visionOS in 2024, but YouTube had it removed from the App Store for violating its Terms of Service.
As a result, Safari remained the only option for months. With the official release, that limitation ends. Users now get a direct app built specifically for visionOS instead of a web-based workaround.
The launch also signals growing platform support for the Vision Pro ecosystem. While some critics questioned whether the headset’s user base justified a native app, YouTube has now committed to supporting the device. For Vision Pro owners, that decision brings a cleaner interface, higher resolution playback, and a more immersive viewing experience.
