Apple is apparently working on a higher resolution MacBook Pro that sports a 2880 x 1800 display, well above the current 17-inch model’s 1680 x 1050 display. Parts suppliers are saying this new laptop refresh will land some time in the second quarter of 2012, according to DigiTimes.
The unnamed sources claim Apple is moving to the super-high resolution displays to help further set its computers apart from the competition.
This isn’t the only rumor about upcoming Apple laptop features. A report from late November claimed the company is planning to release a 15-inch MacBook Air in early 2012, and earlier in the month parts suppliers said they’ve been sending parts to Apple for an ultra-thin MacBook Pro with MacBook Air-like features.
Yet another rumor claimed a complete overhaul of the MacBook Air, along with the iMac, iPhone and iPad will be coming some time in 2012.
Like all rumors, this latest shouldn’t be treated as fact, especially since Apple won’t comment on unannounced products. The idea that product refreshes are on the way, however, is an easy target because Apple is always working on new product features and upgrades.
