iOS 7: How to See the Time Stamp of Each Bubble in Messages

| TMO Quick Tip

Messages in iOS 7 are very economical in their presentation. Not every message bubble is time stamped. Here's a quick tip on how to reveal the time of every bubble.

________________________

Let's say you're reviewing a message stream and you really need to see the exact time of each message. Or one in particular. The default presentation doesn't provide that. For example:

The default view.

To show the time of each message:

  1. Pick any bubble on the display.
  2. Swipe left and hold.
  3. Release when done.

You'll see something like this.

Each bubble's time is revealed.

That's all there is to it! If there's any lesson here, iOS 7 teaches us to become swipeaholics.

Awww Android Messaging shows timestamps by default, no swiping necessary

vasic

If I remember correctly, prior versions of iOS did show timestamps next to all messages. iOS 7 has now improved visibility by removing the stuff that most people don’t need anyway, but it’s there, a swipe away, if you need it.
