iPad Camera Connection Kit Available, Ships Late April

Apple’s iPad Camera Connection Kit finally appeared on the Apple Store Web site on Saturday. The kit lets users download images from SD cards and digital cameras directly to to their iPad, and is set to ship near the end of April.

The kit includes a USB camera cable adapter and SD card reader that connect to the iPad’s Dock port, and Apple says the iPad supports importing standard photo formats such as JPEG and RAW.

The iPad is Apple’s new multimedia tablet computer device. It includes a 9.7-inch multitouch display, supports most iPhone apps, includes built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, offers movie and music playback, includes an ebook reader, and some models include 3G wireless data connectivity as well. It is priced starting at US$499 for the Wi-Fi only model with 16GB of storage space.

The iPad Camera Connection Kit is priced at $29 and is currently available for pre-order at the Apple Web site.

If you can make a USB camera cable adapter, you can make an iPad Doc Port Camera for doing photos or video.  All it would take is an enteprising company.
