Mozilla recently brought its AI-powered “Quick Answers” feature to Firefox on iPhone. Rather than sending users to a page of search results, it lets them ask a question with their voice and receive a concise AI-generated response inside the browser.
We installed the latest Firefox Beta through TestFlight and spent some time with Quick Answers to see how the feature works from setup to the first response.

The feature is available from Firefox’s New Tab page. Tapping the voice button opens a short onboarding screen explaining that users can ask a question aloud and receive a brief answer from a Firefox partner. The same screen also states that Mozilla doesn’t store voice recordings or the questions themselves. After tapping Continue, iOS displays the standard microphone permission prompt.
With microphone access granted, Firefox switches to a full-screen voice interface with an “Ask anything…” prompt while it listens for a question.
For our first test, we asked, “What is Firefox Smart Window?” Within a few seconds, Firefox returned a concise explanation instead of a list of search results. The response also included source cards that link to the pages used to generate the answer.
We also tried questions about travel, programming, and general knowledge. Firefox returned responses within a few seconds and included supporting source links in every case. The answers remained concise regardless of the topic, making the feature well suited for quick factual lookups rather than lengthy conversations.
At the bottom of every response, Firefox identifies the answer provider as Exa and includes a reminder that AI-generated answers can contain mistakes.
Unlike a traditional web search, Quick Answers is designed for brief voice queries that can be answered without opening multiple webpages. Users can still tap the included source links to learn more or verify the information.
Quick Answers also appears under Firefox’s AI Controls page alongside other AI-powered features, including Page Summaries and Translation. Like the other AI features available on iPhone, Quick Answers can be turned on or off individually from this menu without affecting the rest of the browser.
After spending some time with the feature, the experience felt straightforward. The interface is easy to follow, and every answer includes links to its supporting sources. At the moment, Quick Answers relies on voice input, so users who prefer typing will still need to use Firefox’s standard search experience.
