Apple has rolled out a new firmware update for the upcoming AirPods Pro 3, just ahead of their official release tomorrow. The update arrives alongside iOS 26, ensuring that Apple’s latest hardware ships with refined software from day one.
New Firmware Build Released
Earlier this week, Apple introduced firmware version 8A356 for AirPods, which brought support for seven new features. The company has now issued a slightly revised build, 8A357, specifically for AirPods Pro 3.
While Apple has not detailed about the changes, the timing says that the update addresses a minor bug or stability issue in the earlier release. Users should not expect noticeable new features in this version, atleast for now.
How to Update Your AirPods Pro 3
Apple does not allow users to manually trigger firmware updates for AirPods. Instead, the process happens automatically under certain conditions. To increase the chances of receiving the latest firmware quickly, Apple recommends you:
- Update your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to the latest software version.
- Keep Bluetooth enabled and AirPods connected to your device.
- Ensure your device is connected to Wi-Fi.
- Place AirPods in the charging case, connect the case to power, and close the lid.
- Keep the AirPods near your paired device for at least 30 minutes.
After this, reopen the case lid to reconnect, then check the firmware version on your connected device.
Earlier today we also reported Apple shipped a special build of iOS 26 for iPhone 17 Pro, alongside the new AirPods firmware release.
