Apple Books Drops Free Chapter From Pluribus Character’s Romantasy Novel

Pluribus has picked up steady attention on Apple TV, and Apple is now adding a clever twist to its promotion. You can read a free chapter from Bloodsong of Wycaro, the romance novel written by the show’s lead character, Carol Sturka. The excerpt ties directly into the story you see on screen and gives you a taste of the world Carol writes about in the series.

Viewers know Rhea Seehorn plays Carol Sturka, an author who built her career on a hit romantic series, even though she dislikes writing non-serious books and often feels trapped by fans who adore her characters.

Apple Books now lets you download an exclusive chapter from Bloodsong of Wycaro, the fourth book in Carol’s fictional trilogy. Apple describes it as a sample that includes a full chapter and a letter from Carol herself.

A Story Inside a Story

The excerpt introduces Lucasia, Captain of the duneship Mercator, as she crosses the endless sands of Wycaro looking for a cure for her sick crew. She remembers Raban, the rogue who once stole her heart, while trying to survive a dangerous storm that hides more than she expects.

Apple calls it a moment where “the only thing worse than finding yourself alone in the dark… is discovering you’re not alone.”

Bloodsong of Wycaro appears throughout the early episodes of Pluribus, and Apple is using the book to deepen the show’s world. Pluribus launched on November 7 and currently streams three episodes, with new episodes released weekly through December 26.

You can watch the series on Apple TV, which offers a 7-day free trial before the monthly plan begins at $12.99.
