iOS Players Can Now Try The Division Resurgence in Early Access

Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence has finally opened its doors on mobile in early access, giving you a real handheld taste of Ubisoft’s looter shooter. The build is live only in select regions for now, but it already feels like the clearest step yet toward a full global rollout on iOS and Android.

Early access on iOS

Right now, The Division Resurgence arrives as a free-to-play third-person shooter RPG built specifically for phones and tablets. Ubisoft places you back in post-crisis New York City, after a deadly virus tears through the United States. You play as a Strategic Homeland Division agent in a storyline that sits between The Division and The Division 2, so you get familiar faces and themes with a fresh perspective tailored to mobile.

At this stage, you cannot simply download it everywhere. Early access works more like a regional beta. Ubisoft is inviting a limited pool of pre-registered players in markets such as the United States and Brazil, with test windows running for a few weeks at a time on both iOS and Android.

If your Apple ID is set to one of the supported regions and your device meets the requirements, you can sign up through the App Store or the official Resurgence site and wait to see if you get an invite.

Familiar Division systems

Once you get in, the structure feels very close to the mainline games, only trimmed for mobile play. You move through an open-world New York, clear story missions, tackle side activities, and face named bosses, all designed to fit into shorter sessions that make sense on a phone. You can play solo or in co op, and the game treats iOS as a full platform, not a watered-down companion app.

The core RPG systems also come across largely intact. You chase color-coded loot tiers, upgrade weapons, tweak armor builds, and lean into skill-based specializations that shape your playstyle. Touch controls sit at the center, but Ubisoft also supports Bluetooth controllers, so if you already play shooters on iPad or iPhone with a pad, you can do the same here and keep the screen clear of virtual buttons.

Dark Zone and PvP on your phone

Crucially, Resurgence does not drop the series’ competitive side. Conflict returns as a dedicated PvP mode, with formats like Skirmish and Domination for quick, focused matches. When you want more tension, you can step into the Dark Zone, a PvPvE area where tough enemies guard high-tier loot while other agents hunt the same rewards. You clear enemies, secure gear, and then extract it before someone else wipes your squad and steals everything.

For now, early access is as much a test as it is a preview. Ubisoft is using this phase to tune balance, server performance, and monetization while you stress the systems and send feedback. There is still no firm date for a full global iOS release, but each new regional wave brings The Division Resurgence closer to becoming a permanent fixture on your home screen.

If you live in an eligible region and want in early, your next step is simple: pre-register, watch your inbox, and be ready to drop back into New York from your phone.
