Apple Enables Tap to Pay on iPhone Across Hong Kong Retailers

Tap to Pay on iPhone Launches in Singapore for All Sellers

Apple introduced ‘Tap to Pay’ on iPhone in Hong Kong, giving sellers a direct way to accept contactless payments with only an iPhone. The launch makes it easier for small merchants and large retailers to handle transactions without buying extra hardware.

Tap to Pay on iPhone supports Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets. Every transaction stays encrypted, and Apple says it does not store purchase details or identify the buyer. This keeps the payment experience simple and secure for both sides.

The feature works through NFC technology and supports PIN entry. It also works with accessibility tools, so more people can use it without trouble. You only need an iPhone to start accepting payments.

Payment Platforms and Rollout

From today, Adyen, Global Payments, KPay, and SoéPay support Tap to Pay on iPhone in Hong Kong.
Apple says this rollout reaches key sectors such as taxi, retail, food and beverage, and professional services.

Apple explained in its newsroom note that the feature supports digital wallets and contactless cards from major networks. The statement reads, “Tap to Pay on iPhone supports Apple Pay and other digital wallets, as well as contactless credit and debit cards from leading payment networks, including American Express, JCB, Mastercard, UnionPay, and Visa.”

In the same announcement, Apple added, “Payment platforms and developers can integrate Tap to Pay on iPhone into their iOS apps, making it easy for merchants to enable this secure and convenient capability.”

Tap to Pay on iPhone first arrived in the United States in 2022, and Apple has expanded it to more than 50 regions since then.
