Apple has released a new short film to mark the Lunar New Year, which runs from February 17 through March 3. The film sets the tone for the holiday with a warm story built around family, luck, and small moments that matter. It mixes live action with stop motion and keeps the focus on a young girl and her talking dog as they move through a carefully planned scheme that brings people closer together.
Apple described the story in a short statement. It said, “A girl, a talking dog, and a meticulously thought-out scheme make up this heartwarming tale about finding family.” The company also said it worked with director Bai Xue on an “imaginative blend of cinematography and stop motion” for the project.

Shot on iPhone 17 Pro
Apple filmed the entire short on the iPhone 17 Pro, which once again puts the phone at the center of its Lunar New Year campaign. Along with the main film, Apple also shared behind-the-scenes footage that shows how the crew used the iPhone to capture both the live-action scenes and the stop-motion work.
The release continues Apple’s yearly tradition of using the Lunar New Year to highlight creative storytelling through the iPhone. This time, the mix of a simple family story, a playful fantasy element, and mobile filmmaking gives the film a clear emotional pull while also showing what the iPhone 17 Pro can do in real-world production.
